License

Komand’s core platform is licensed under the Business Source License (BSL). This is a source-available license with a time-delayed conversion to a fully open-source license.

  • Source code is available — you can read, study, and learn from the code
  • Self-hosting is free — deploy on your own infrastructure at no cost
  • Commercial use is restricted — you cannot offer Komand as a hosted service to others without a commercial license
  • Time-delayed open source — after a set period, the code converts to an OSI-approved open-source license

BSL protects Komand’s ability to sustain development while keeping the code transparent:

  • Users can audit the code they run
  • Security researchers can review the codebase
  • Contributors can improve the platform
  • The business model supports ongoing development

The Komand SDK is licensed under the MIT License — a permissive open-source license with no restrictions:

  • Build skills, integrations, and extensions freely
  • Use in commercial or open-source projects
  • No attribution requirements beyond the license notice
  • Fork, modify, and redistribute without restriction
